Got tired of waiting for the larger shad to show up - all near my fishing pier this year are small but I need to start stocking freezer for late in the fall (best time for shad seems to be when the live ones are dying in the lake - when temperature of water is down around 50.
Bottom line: Not many big shad this year so I've start putting some small ones in freezer (for future catfish :) I get a dozen nice size golden shiner most afternoon's - when I need them for bait (but not putting these in freezer - didn't have much luck with these - shad work better IMHO)
