This is for people that ask what type of bait I use when I can't get enought bream (my favorite bait is always bream for flathead (or any catfish) but magic bait sure has helped fill up the freezer with channel catfish)I seem to have the best luck with the chicken liver / chicken blood flavor.

I know this barely has anything to do with your post but I just got to tell someone of my unique and informative experience.
I just got a catfish trap and I baited it with the same exact thing, chicken livers with chicken blood. But I got mines from the grocery store in a plasitc container from the meat cooler.
Anyways I froze it, drilled holes in the container so it allowed the blood to escape and the smell to escape.
I put it in the trap, container and all, and after a few days of no activity the livers lost all their blood and was white, smelled AWFUL, and signs of fungus/mold was obvious. I left it in there because I figured the added smell would only help attract catfish.
Anyways I checked the trap the next day (probably the fourth day after I set it) and I had 2 sheepshead (this is a brakkish intercoastal river, it does have abundant channel catfish along with saltwater fish).
I didn't think nothing of it. Maybe 2 fish were travelling together and got curious of a smell. Really traps can't target fish, I've caught a little flounder in a crab trap.
2 days later when I checked it, I had yet another sheepshead. So now I'm almost convinced that chicken livers (maybe the old and nasty livers moreso) can catch sheepshead.
Now I know it's a big chance this means nothing to you. I thought I'd just share some knowledge with a fellow fisherman. We all know the expression about teaching a man to fish. Just think of me adding knowledge that is sounds different to most fisherman.
