Little Channel Catfish

Still catching small (1 lb - 2 lb) Channel catfish on yoyo's using magic bait - on my fishing pier. My next door neighbor is getting plenty of fish to eat

For example, got 6 small channel catfish - the last 4 times I baited the yoyo's (weather shut me down a couple nights)

Haven't baited trotline in several days - due to weather - plus water level is constantly changing (very high right now and a lot of gates open at spillway i.e. bad conditions so not surprised about poor fishing on trotline (plus I don't have the line in a good place (too lazy to move line to deep water - only need to catch one or two fish a week cause I have until September to fill freezer for my brother's visit :0

Put trotline out and next day (after I check in AM - fish was on in PM when I went to bait) - using bream for bait. Have also picked up 3 small channel cats on magic bait (I only put on 4 magic bait each night - and 29 bream - so not doing 'great' but have cleaned fish for freezer and the small channels for neighbor lady (

Bird watchers keep coming to see the rare visit - but they missed seeing him/her fishing today - it dove into a school of fish at end of my fishing pier - Twice today - that I saw - both times it came up with a fish (looked like yellow bass - but may have been crappier - bunch of little crappie around here)

Finally Some Rain

Lake is about normal level - first time in a long time so I should be fishing more - but it's colder than a witches tit.

So this afternoon, I only fished for 30-40 minutes and all I got were yellow bass - which was fun cause they were nice size and they sure can fight. I got 7-8 nice ones and one small one.

BTW: yoyo's with magic bait got a small channel catfish last night (on side of my fishing pier) So in the cold rain I was cussing that little channel for making me go take him off the hook just at bedtime (was wishing I had an electric blanket or a hot lady to warm me up by time I got back inside.)

RedEar Crappie

While fishing with crappie jig I got a nice redear (so I called it a crappie :) :) Anyway it's good to catch some nice size - I've been catching tons of baby crappie so this was a great day
BTW: they were full of eggs and the recent warm weather is heating up the water so they are in shallows - trying to spawn
