Picked up 2 more

Went back at 5PM - but only got one 'sometime keeper' (1 lb or slightly better) and one about 1.5 lbs (didn't check wt yet - put in pen) then let the other one go since neighbor not home to help me clean it i.e. not worth cleaning.

These last two channel catfish were fun - I was catching a bunch of little ones and was using the light rod n reel for one setup. The little ones would float the big slip cork so I was lazy watching cork float without ever going under and then decided to check bait - well this 'little one floating the cord' was 2.75 lbs and on the light weight (crappie) rig it felt like a 5 lb fish and I had to reset the drag while working it to boat - good thing I have a strong heart - it took 5 minutes to get the mean catfish in the boat because I was afraid to force it - plus the 'floating bite' fooled me and I never really set the hook - which made me more nervous / cautious about force it.

The other one was a 2 lb 1 oz but on heavy line so no 'racing heart' / nervous breakdown

All bites - were secret-7 - and I decided to put up the light rod n reel - no more stress - I fished with the 10 lb line - so of course I started catching baby catfish again :(

I went this AM - between 10AM - noon - but I would have fished longer than my 2 hours except my stomach decided I needed to come home (hopefully I can get gut under control and go back> Those that know me - understand what happens when I get nervous stomach but I'm going to try to calm my gut and go again later today

P.S. Found out that bait shop (Hacket's Jack) which is 13 miles from me - now carries the Secret-7 bait (after I had already ordered a case from teamcatfish.com to be FedEx tomorrow i.e. already ordered several months worth of bait plus shipping cost to FedEx :(

Still catching some Channel Catfish Keepers

I'm still fishing about 2 hours a day (usually in late afternoon) - still using stink bait - stink catching a lot ot 1 lb or less that I throw back. But from now on - not going to take time to make video when I just catch one (or 2) in the 2 lb range (the size that I keep and make decent fillets and good eating - for my neighbor - as mentioned in past video)

Sorry but going to be lazy and not always keep up or count the 2 lb range (will 'try' to take time to put on this blog - but not a promise - may only update blog once ever few days and may miss a few keepers (really be lazy)

More 1.5 to 2 lb channel cats

Still not making video of latest catch cause they are just in the 1.5 to 2 lb range. Yesterday (Saturday) I had a 1 lb (that I let go) and about a 1.5 to 2 lb - that I gave away to people fishing near me (e.g. didn't weight it before I gave it away)

Then today my 2 hr fishing trip only produced one channel cat = 2 lb 6oz (got all these latest on Secret-7 or a mixture where I use magic bait to hold the Secret-7 on the hook i.e. not sure which the catfish liked best Chicken Liver / blood magic bait or the Secret-7 on top of Magic

Anyway - none of the recent catch is worth the time to make a video

Fishing Spot cooled off

My favorite spots have been slow / dead - only get baby catfish and/or few bites. Today got one keeper (1 lb 12oz) but just as I got this one - the thunder and lightening convinced me to run back to the house - still storms in area so never got to finish my 2 hour fishing trip

One small catfish

Slow again today - only got about 1/2 dozen bites and landed one small catfish - about 1 lb (which I let go)

Lost the big one (cleaned 5 Channels)

Lost big one - he was pulling boat and me for a couple runs and on third run - the 10 lb line snapped - I have a witness - my neighbor was fishing nearby. Using Secret-7 and Magic Bait covered in garlic salt - magic bait is easier to keep big piece on hook so big one was on magic bait hook

Sunday is day of rest

I should have remembered - Sunday is day of rest and the 'keeper' size fish relax / take the day off - and let the bait thieves steal bait (expensive bait)

1.5 and 2.5 Channel using Magic Bait + Garlic

I wasn't going fishing today (usually skip weekends but it was so nice and cool - I had to go
My 2 1/4 hour fishing trip today was rough - wind was beating me to death and waves / current make the Secret-7 wash off the hook so I used Magic Bait covered in Garlic Salt (Chicken Liver - Chicken Blood flavor of course :)

Got a 1.5+ (l lb 10oz) and a 2.5- (2 lb 7oz) Channel catfish and the wind didn't stop blowing until I was ready to leave at 7:15 (dang internet weather forecast for wind is usually closer / better than this :(

Nice Size Channels for light rod n reel

Planned to go for an hour but had a blast and stayed 2.5 hours (messed up my shopping - early lunch plans - cause had bug man coming after lunch) - but it was worth it - got 3 nice fish - put a couple pounds in my freezer and about the same in neighbors freezer

Storms been messing up my 2 hour fishing trip so I went 10-12AM today - and got two keepers on Danny King (little catfish on Secret-7 - dang stuff comes off hook too easy)

1.0 lb ; 1 lb 15oz and 3 lb 1oz Channel Catfish

Three different baits - three catfish. Danny King - Secret-7 and Magic bait (chicken liver chicken blood flavor) Plenty of baby bait thieves mixed in with these 3 - from 5PM - 6PM - then they shut down

Lost a big one

My daily two hour fishing trip was scary today - I almost lost my rod n reel - grabbed it in mid-air and fish kept me going forward and by time i 'felt' him my arm was under water and he ran me around something (probably log/tree on bottom) - any way little catfish were biting - but I threw back 2 that were about 1 lb and I kept one that was 2lbs (for my next door neighbor)

More worms n fish

Still fishing a couple hours each day but until today the fishing has been very poor. Lost one today cause I was slow with the net (guy watching said I played it too long _ Cleaned two - both slightly over 2lbs. Total catfish during all the weather (water temperature changes is only 4 and now another system is headed this way - I need water to be hotter as mentioned in previous blog post

Got more catalpa worms today - plus got a 1lb 10oz channel - just lazy about reports / making video

Catfish moved

I've been fishing in a deep / cool hole / creek channel and doing fine with the HOT days and hot surface temperature - but the last week of rain - cool night - dropped the water temperature all over the lake - so the fish spread you and my 'hot fishing spot' cooled off. I figure another few days of 90+ temperatures and the fish will return to the channel - deeper fishing hole I use (fingers crossed)
